Attorney Lloyd Snook, Who Is Running For Charlottesville City Council, Joined Jerry Miller On The I Love CVille Show!

by

Attorney Lloyd Snook, the co-owner of Snook & Haughey, P.C., announced that he is running for Charlottesville City Council. I invited Lloyd on The I Love CVille Show to discuss his platform, his goals and how he will improve Charlottesville, Virginia if he wins a seat on Council.

Here are some of the topics we covered:

(1). I asked Lloyd to put himself into perspective and why he would make the right choice as a Charlottesville City Councilor.

(2). Why is the Charlottesville Police Department experiencing tremendous turnover and attrition with its police officers? What did Lloyd think about Sheriff J E Chip Harding’s televised comments about using an independent third party to audit the CPD and CPD Chief RaShall M. Brackney?

(3). I asked Lloyd about the perceived dysfunction on Charlottesville City Council, and how we got to this point.

(4). I asked Lloyd about August 12, 2017, a day that will forever live in infamy in Charlottesville, Virginia history.

(5). I asked Lloyd about Dr. Wes Bellamy’s recent goal to rename or rebrand Preston Avenue. If we rebrand Preston Avenue, is the next step to remove Thomas Jefferson from the University of Virginia?? We had an insightful conversation about this topic.

(6). We discussed affordable housing in Charlottesville. Both Mayor Nikuyah J Walker and Councilor Heather Danforth Hill have said that the City is an affordable housing crisis. I asked Lloyd, who was a one-time Planning Commission member, to put this into perspective.

(8). We discussed Coran Capshaw, Alan Taylor and Riverbend Development. Coran’s company is the primary development player in CVille. Why is this? Why is Coran doing more projects than the other developers? What does Lloyd think about Coran’s plans for Crescent Halls?

(9). We analyzed Adam Healey, the interim executive director of the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the value he is providing CVille. What do Adam and the CACVB need to do to change the national conversation about Charlottesville, Virginia? Everyone understands that Charlottesville, Virginia needs a rebranding, but what is actually being done about this?

Currently, an advertising agency from Raleigh, North Carolina (Clean, which has a grand total of 414 “likes” on its Facebook page) is dictating the branding and marketing strategies for Charlottesville, Virginia. Is this a good idea??

Lloyd offers very straight-forward perspective on this topic.

(10). What does Lloyd hope the new comprehensive plan will do to promote affordable housing?

(11). What is the value of the West Main streetscape project? Is it worth the millions of dollars the City is putting into it?

(12). Why is Dewberry Capital Corporation floundering with its development of The Landmark Hotel on the Charlottesville DowntownMall?? What can be done to expedite this and remove this hideous eye-sore from our skyline?

(13). I asked Lloyd about Keith O. Woodard’s efforts to build an $80,000,000 Water Street development. Because of issues with City Council, Keith Woodard chose to walk away from years of investment and roughly $1,200,000 of his own money because of difficulties in working with City Council. What does Lloyd think about this?

(14). I asked Lloyd if he thinks our current City Council is prioritizing social justice over economic growth in Charlottesville, Virginia.

(15). I asked Lloyd about the tension between the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Richard Fitz Randolph, an Albemarle County Supervisor, said on the record that he is concerned that the City of CVille does not keep its promises when dealing with Albemarle County. Lloyd offered his thoughts on this topic.

(16). I asked Lloyd what can be done to make The Downtown Mall a more inviting place for people of all races and income levels.

(17). If you would like to get a better feel for Lloyd Snook and whether he would make a strong candidate or Charlottesville City Council, I encourage you to watch this interview in totality.
