Hi, I’m Sebastian. At first I was scared and shy when I came here after being lost and all alone. I wasn’t sure if they would keep me and help me, and I was afraid to me all alone in the big world again. It didn’t take long for me to trust people, and now I love to be held and petted. I purr like a small engine. My favorite thing to do is play! I lived in the office for my first month here, and Sid and I played through the walls of my condo. I was a little nervous the day I moved to the Scratching Post to live with the big kids in Room R2, but I share my condo with Simon and we have a great time playing together. I love my toys, I love other cats, and I love people. But what I would love most of all is a home and family of my own.

Can you say “sweetheart?” That’s me! I’m just a big love-bug. I like nothing better than pettings, hugs, and affection of all kinds. The nice folks here at the Sanctuary had an easy enough time naming me as I am just as warm as a summer day is long. When I first arrived here I was expecting five or six puppies but wouldn’t you know it, during delivery they just kept on coming! By the end of the day, I had eleven wee ones to care for but I was oh, so very proud and ready to take care of my new family. My pups have now all gone home and early on, I thought I too had a home lined up but my new family had a medical emergency which made it impossible for them to keep me so I’m back on the doggie pet market!

I’m known as a very kindly and mellow fellow, a go with the flow boy cat with a nature as soft as my velvety buff coat. I do quite well with all of my roommates here at CFC but what I really treasure is people and the attention I get from them. I can be a bit of a talker when I’m trying to cajole folks into giving me some of the chinny rubs that I love so much. I’ve gained the reputation of being a very dedicated and skilled supervisor of those who are working in my room. I follow them about, politely offering the occasional helpful tip or a diplomatic observation on the quality of their efforts. I’ve heard the words “doll” and “total love bug” bandied about when my volunteer friends are talking about me. Arguing their points would not be polite and just wouldn’t be me. People say my list of charming traits is as long as my handsome tail. Who am I to dispute that, especially if I can entice you to come visit with me? I’d love a promotion to the position of “Full Time Supervisor and Resident Lover Boy” in your home.

I’ve lived in a home for seven years, and I know how to be a good boy! I lived with cats, and I was great with my owners’ young grandchildren. I don’t jump, I don’t pull on my leash, and I love going for walks. I know all about paying attention for treats. I’m a little sad because I miss my person, but I’m very friendly with everyone who comes to visit me and take me for walks. I’m a medium sized, medium energy dog who wants nothing more than to be in a home again. I’m house-trained and I get along great with other dogs. Even if they bark at me, I don’t mind.

5. Reba

Reba has been the center of many conversations at CFC. Is she a Vizsla, part Rhodesian Ridgeback, some part Bloodhound?! It’s hard to say, but we have learned lots about her personality since her arrival here at CFC.
True to what we believe is some Vizsla lineage, Reba is gentle, loyal, energetic and affectionate. She walks like a hound- nose first with minimal pulling and easy to control. Described as a very sweet, sensitive lady, she has incredibly, long velveteen ears that just beg you to stroke them!
Reba is an active girl who will do best in a home where she will get an above average amount of exercise. Are you a runner? Reba would be a great buddy when you are putting in the miles! Around the trails at CFC, Reba has run nicely on a loose leash and been attentive to the person she was running with.
Reba has been out to an event in a park setting and done well with walking around a large number of people, lots of kids on bikes, meeting most other dogs, and being loved on by children. She is a strong girl and at this point needs an experienced handler in a situation with this much activity. However, she is smart dog and if you are willing to put in some training time, your effort will be rewarded! You’ll likely end up with a lady you can have by your side, no matter where you roam.

6. Abby

PBS fans who love Downton Abbey just might adore a certain Downtown Abbey, ME! Well, in the interest of accuracy I’m not a downtown girl but I did come from a country version of life on the mean streets. I have adapted to the good life at the sanctuary far faster than anyone expected but I am still gently bashful and will be shy when first we meet. My fur is impossibly soft and I’m cute as a bug from my sweet pink nose to my glossy black tail. If you’re patient with me I’ll reward you with tiny little kisses, enthusiastic head bumps, and kneading paws; I might even break out into my joyous Abby dance or flop before you hoping for even more pets and caresses down my back. I’m petite and demure, loving all fellow creatures both feline and human. If you have room in your heart for a nattily dressed, warmhearted little girl who has all the makings of a devout and loyal lifelong companion, I’d love to meet you and get our friendship started.

7. Stan

Stan is an adorable shepherd/lab mix with amazing hazel eyes. He’s a medium/large size and would love an energetic home with lots of time for ball playing, fetch, walks, and being on the go. He gets along great with other dogs, so if you have a friendly dog who would enjoy a willing play mate, Stan is your guy. Kitties, on the other hand, are not such a good match for him.

Irascible, cantankerous, feisty. Who, me? I prefer to think of myself as being a guy of independent mind and strong will. I can be very accommodating, especially when there is the prospect of food involved, but I confess that being here in a room with so MANY other cats generally puts me in a sour mood. I’m a big strapping boy and at a quick first glance you might think that a black panther has joined the CFC gang. I move with a grace that you might not associate with such a large, not fat, gentleman. The stroke of finger nails down my velvety back is nice and I can’t deny that I enjoy some loving attention, but then another one of those cats comes near and my attitude changes for the worse. My potential is as sizable as my physique and, if I could just find a forever home where I would be the undisputed monarch of the kingdom, I think you would see a whole new side of me. I believe that there is a kinder, gentler aspect to this colossally handsome black Prince Charming (ME!) that true love will reveal.

9. Trapper

I’m a people pleaser. From far away, folks can see my tall, erect ears dancing in the wind and they just have to come on by to see the wiggling, happy faced fellow in charge of “those ears.” A very friendly, social, outgoing kind of guy, cruising around in a car and snuggling with my person are at the top of my “Must Do” List. Always up for a stroll in the woods and ready to go and do and explore, I’m a smart fellow who loves attention and getting lots of stimulation. Guess it’s the terrier/feist in my heritage that yearns for activity and adventure. In my former life, I had a cat who was best friend and periodically I had play dates with other dogs. My new cat friend would need to be “dog savvy” so I don’t take advantage of how nice they are to me! Obedience classes would be a super activity for us to partake in together as I’m very treat motivated and even this middle age guy, can surely learn a few more tricks! I enjoy kids an awful lot but sometimes when I get excited or am meeting folks in my home, I can get a little nippy so to keep everyone safe, much older kids and a more experienced person, is the best match for me. Now that you know all about me, Trapper, perhaps you can come on by and introduce yourself to me. I’m the cute mid-sized, brindle guy who hula dances for snacks as you approach my pen. I’ll keep the light on for you!

10. Lily

As a very young mom, abandoned and left on my own to nurture and protect my kittens, I learned early on how to be independent and self sufficient. My kittens have all been adopted but I still tend to be reserved and I know how to entertain myself. I’m quiet and demure, content with the simple things in life such as a soft bed, wholesome food, and gentle pets. I’m slim and silken with dove gray highlights on my snowy white fur. I’m not an “in your face” kind of girl but I do appreciate gentle words and soft strokes. In fact I have recently discovered the joys of a warm lap and now leap into welcoming ones. I get along well enough with the other cats in our room, but I think being an only cat would be perfectly fine too. I do love a good romp with a toy mouse and playing with another nice cat can be great too. I was a devoted and loving mom, but now it’s my time to shine and to know the joy of having my very own home. I just need someone willing to give me the opportunity to relax and to surrender to being a more dependent girl. I think I would very much like learning that someone is going to care for my every need in a HOME!

11. Peggy

Pretty Woman! As many of us celebrate the release of the movie, Pretty Woman 27 years ago, here in the CFC community we celebrate the arrival of our newest Pretty Woman, Peggy!!

Now when we first met Peggy at the high kill shelter where animal control had dumped her, she had THE saddest look on her face. This middle aged lady was confused and wondered what she had done wrong to wind up in danger and in need of a new pet job.

Today, Peggy is safe and we love her to pieces. Talk about a Pretty Woman now! She has added some much needed pounds (perhaps a few too many ) and she is smiling. She wiggles with great excitement as folks select her for walks and she rolls on her back with great delight (something she could NOT do in her cement kennel at the shelter). The pond on our property is a source of wondrous joy for her as she wades out into it and then slowly sinks down looking like an alligator with only the top of her head and back visible! New life has been breathed into this friendly, bubbly lady!

Peggy can be a bit dog selective and cats might be too enticing for her so a family with older, more sturdy kids or a couple simply needing to fill a pet void, would be a perfect match for her. Peggy has never met a stranger so come on by soon, find your new friend in Peggy and tell her, “You’re coming home with me!”
