ROCKSALT is all about local sustainable food, and that includes seafood from Croxton’s own oyster and clam farms. They champion the local farmer and continuously work to educate their staff and customers. The food at ROCKSALT is a celebration of Mid-Atlantic seafood with a focus on the raw bar, with shellfish from Croxton’s Virginia-based Rappahannock River Oysters!

Travis Croxton is the co-owner of Rappahannock River Oysters, several oyster farms throughout the Chesapeake and a clam farm in Chincoteague as well as the proprietor of ROCKSALT and BRINE. He has earned several awards, as well as recognition as a culinary innovator. Travis along with co-owner and cousin Ryan Croxton has been credited with helping to rebuild the Virginia oyster industry and leading a renaissance of oyster farmers in the Chesapeake Bay.r

Reflecting the best of what’s local, ROCKSALT – like it’s sister restaurant in Charlotte – has a menu unique to its location. This farm-to-table oyster bar serves sustainable seafood and land-based dishes that never fail to satisfy. Owner Travis Croxton hopes to redefine the way our communities eat and support local farmers by leading through example.

ROCKSALT always has four or five varieties of oyster to enjoy! These range from the sweet and buttery Rappahannock oysters on one end of the flavor spectrum to the salty and briny Olde Salts on the other, with the mild and briny Stingray oysters offering a happy medium between the two extremes. The staff are very knowledgeable and can help you pick just the right oyster to satisfy your palate.

ROCKSALT’s Sea Scallops are a delicious entrée served atop a bed of Parisian gnocchi, grilled octopus, shellfish broth and kale. Paired with a good white wine, this is what great seafood is all about!

Monday through Saturday from 3-7pm and all day Sunday you can head to ROCKSALT for $1 oysters, perfect for figuring out what your favorites are! You’ll also find great drink deals, including $5 rails, $5 wines and $4 beers. Wine bottles over $50 are half off Monday through Thursday and on weekends for brunch you don’t want to miss out on the Bloody Mary and Mimosa specials!
