Charlottesville is a great place for music! Here’s who’s performing in the area this weekend:
Durty Nelly’s:
Friday- The “Chickenhead Blues Band,” an un-beat, boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues dance band, will be playing starting at 9:30pm. Cover charge is $5.
Saturday- “Failure to Yield,” a local band, will be playing a mix of original folk tunes and some classic covers, starting at 9:30pm.
Escafé:
Friday- The “Art Wheeler Band” will be playing a variety of jazz, blues, and classical music from 7-9pm.
Fellini’s #9:
Friday- Bob Bennetta will be playing on the piano from 6-9, followed by “Overdog” from 10-1am. $5 cover for entry.
Saturday- “9 & Under” Bruncheon from 11-3; Bob Williamson on piano from 6-9pm; and “Hod and Stephanie” from 10-1am. $5 cover for entry.
Sunday- Jazz Brunch with “Bob & Dave” from 12-2; Garen Dorsey on piano from 6-9; and “The Hogwaller Ramblers” from 10-1am.
Frye Springs Beach Club:
Saturday- Enjoy a mix of reggae, ska, and world music by the Pool with “Positive Collective” from 6-9pm.
Miller’s:
Sunday- “Barling & Collins” will be playing the guitar and cello beginning at 9:30pm.
The Ntelos Wireless Pavilion:
Friday-Friday’s after Five will feature “Kathryn Caine and the Small Band,” an Original Soulful Americana Band. The music will begin at 5:30 pm and the entrance is free.
The Paramount Theater:
Sunday- Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be performing at the Paramount starting at 8pm. This night will include 15 of jazz’s leading soloists, directed by Wynton Marsalis. Tickets range from $39.50-$99.50.
Plank Road Exchange:
Saturday- “Buzzard Hollow Boys,” an Americana folk band, will be performing starting at 6:30pm.
Rapture:
Saturday- “Duck Brothers,” a group of local DJs, will be playing their smooth hip hop sound to a 21-plus audience beginning at 10:30pm.
The Southern Café and Music Hall:
Saturday- Charlottesville based “Corsair” and Nashville’s “All Them Witches” will be performing together at the Southern. Doors at 8, Show at 9. This standing show, with limited seating, is $8 in advance and $10 the day of the show!
The Whiskey Jar:
Friday- “Welcome to Hoonah” will be performing a 21-plus, country, swing, and folk show starting at 10:30pm.
Wild Wing Café:
Friday- Relax with the acoustic music of Scott Tierman from 8-10pm.
