1. Preddy Creek

The Preddy Creek Trail offers a lot of interesting terrain. It’s also a multi-purpose trail, so keep an eye out for hikers and horseback riders.
2. O Hill

O (Observatory) Hill is a particularly challenging, but rewarding ride. It has steep slopes, but beautiful scenery, especially when the leaves change.
3. Walnut Creek Park

Walnut Creek Park offers a scenic view and a complex set of trails with plenty of turns and difficult climbs.
4. Rivanna Trail

The Rivanna Trail offers multiple biking options for a wide range of skill levels.
5. Carter Mountain

The Saunders-Monticello Trail offers plenty of leisurly boardwalk as well as some more difficult climbs with beautiful views as you wind up Carter Mountain.
6. Mint Spring

Mint Springs park is a lovely park with challenging climbs. The trail with the highest elevation change is 370 ft.
7. Byrom Park
6610 Blackwells Hollow Road, Crozet, VA 22932

Byrom forest has beautiful outlooks, streams and rock formations. This is a very steep climb, though so be prepared.
8. Teventrails

Teventrails is a fun, but private trail. The Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club does get invitations to ride, though.
9. McIntire Park

McIntire Park is a nice, easy ride for beginners, but you may need to avoid hikers and some motorized vehicles.
10. George Washington National Forest

The George Washington National Forest is a bit of a drive, but the beautiful forest and challenging terrain is worth it!
