Walnut Creek Lake is a great fishing spot even without a boat. You can find largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, redear sunfish and channel catfish.

Chris Greene Lake is great for catch and release. They have a wheelchair accessible pier.

3. Ragged Mountain Reservoir

Ragged Mountain Reservoir will be reopening on September 1, 2014. Largemouth bass and bluegill can be found there. No gas boats and kayaks and canoes are recommended since you must carry the boat to the reservoir.

4. Rivanna Reservoir

The Rivanna Reservoir is great for a secluded fishing trip. There are largemouth bass, bluegill, both black and white crappie, redear sunfish and channel catfish. Gas boats are not allowed.

5. Beaver Creek Lake

Beaver Creek Lake is an excellent fishing spot because there is no swimming allowed. There are also beautiful views of The Blue Ridge Mountains.

Mint Springs Valley Park is a great place to go for trout, though they have other fish as well.

7. Lake Albemarle

8. Lake Gordonsville

Gordonsville Lake is a small lake with a gravel ramp that has largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and pumpkinseed sunfish.

9. James River
