Meet Mary Birkholz, Caring For Creatures

Caring For Creatures works to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, abused, or otherwise homeless dogs and cats.

Mary Birkholz, President and Founder of Caring For Creatures, has a heart for saving animals. With her home on “The Sanctuary,” she cares for the cats and dogs of CFC 24/7. Her passion is to give these animals a loving environment and to find good homes for them with caring families.

Caring For Creatures kittens They also permanently care for elderly pets and animals with special needs, as well as fund a program to support animals in need of emergency veterinary care.

“At any given time, Caring For Creatures is home to over 200 animals,” says Mary. “Caring For Creatures is one of a handful of organizations on the East Coast that provides ongoing care for cats who have tested positive for Leukemia and FIV.”

This year Caring For Creatures is celebrating 25 years of saving lives. To celebrate their Silver Anniversary they have Steel Magnolia, Academy of Country Music’s 2012 Vocal Duo of the Year, headlining a benefit concert at The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, Virginia on November 1st. Charlottesville favorite, Ashley McMillen will open the evening’s festivities.
