Executive Chef Harrison Keevil, the co-owner of Keevil & Keevil Grocery & Kitchen, is committed to making Charlottesville, Virginia a better place through serving the best food and local ingredients possible.

Harrison co-owns Keevil & Keevil with his wonderful wife, Jennifer, an intelligent and determined front-of-the-house and operations manager. When you walk into Keevil & Keevil, you will likely see Harrison’s two adorable daughters or a group of Belmont neighbors socializing about current events in CVille.

When Harrison is not at his namesake grocery, he is likely behind the line as the executive chef at Commonwealth Skybar, a flagship Downtown Mall restaurant. Harrison has revamped the staff and menu at Commonwealth Skybar, including the promotion of Rick Cato to sous chef. Today, Commonwealth Skybar is a mecca for locally-sourced ingredients and damn good cuisine thanks to Harrison’s talent, direction and vision.

I first met Harrison while we were students at the University of Virginia. We both loved partying, hanging with our fraternity brothers (I was a Phi Kappa Psi, he was in St. Elmo Hall) and staying awake deep into the night searching for trouble.

Today, we’re business owners, husbands and fathers. As a new father, I’m struggling to find the home/work life balance. Harrison is someone I look up to because he’s found that balance. He’s able to spend quality time with his family without letting his business suffer.

That’s what life is all about as an entrepreneur with a family.
