Norm Sprouse is a native Virginian and life long Virginia resident. Besides keeping an eye in the sky, Norm likes surf fishing, camping, sports car racing (as an observer, unless someone would like to sponsor him as a driver), computers, antique cars and trucks, science fiction (especially Babylon 5….), science in general including astronomy, and anything by James Burke (Connections, The Day the Universe Changed, and Connections 2).

Travis Koshko’s roots in weather date back to the day he was born. Eight and a half inches of snow fell, and he was almost born in the back of a 1973 Volvo on the way to the hospital! Before coming to Charlottesville in January 2008, Travis spent eight years as the Chief Meteorologist at WWCP / WATM-TV in Johnstown, Pa. He currently holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval for Television Broadcasting.

David Rogers joins NBC29 as sunrise, and noon show meteorologist. David is a 20 year television veteran. He was most recently with WCBS-2 as weeknight weather anchor and later as meteorologist for CBS-2 This Morning. A Philadelphia native, he attended Temple University’s Annenburg School of Communications. His philosophy on life is nothing of value comes without effort, and always have the courage to seek your own truth.

He says it is great to be here in Central Virginia, the people are kind, the weather is balanced, and it feels like home.

4. Brantley Ussery, The Newsplex

Brantley Ussery has been following his dream of becoming a weatherman since he was four years old, when he met his calling visiting a local television station. When he’s not at the station giving you the latest forecast, Brantley enjoys hiking, bike riding, music and, of course, keeping up with all of his friends and family in North Carolina. If you see him on the streets, say “Hi!”

5. Clayton Stiver, NBC29

Clayton Stiver is the Thursday/Friday Noon Show and Weekend Meteorologist. He has been with the NBC29 Weather Team since October 2006. When he isn’t tracking the weather, he enjoys playing his trombone, skiing, and watching Penn State football. He was a member of the Penn State Blue Band and has met legendary film composer John Williams.

6. James Gilbert, The Newsplex

James Gilbert was born and raised in snow country of Upstate New York. Being from Rochester, James fell in love with weather because of lake-effect snow. James loves to be outside and enjoys camping in the summer. He bikes whenever he can and enjoys playing the new sport of disc golf. Instead of going out to eat, James also enjoys cooking and entertaining. He is happy to be a part of the Newsplex and has fallen in love with the state of Virginia.
