Chef Brian Helleberg is the owner of two esteemed French restaurants on The Downtown Mall: Fleurie Restaurant and Petit Pois Restaurant. Mr. Helleberg features locally-sourced ingredients across both restaurants, including many from his personal garden. A few Saturdays ago, we watched Chef Helleberg pull a white cooler to The City Market. Then, he showed his support to many of the local produce vendors at The City Market through complimenting them on their fresh produce. Finally, Mr. Helleberg wheeled his cooler, which was crammed with fresh, Central Virginia produce, to Petit Pois Restaurant and Fleurie Restaurant for dinner that evening. How awesome is that?!?! Chef Helleberg, a Western Albemarle High School graduate, is also an accomplished skier, who swears he could “slam dunk a basketball with the best of ’em back in the day!”…(We’d like to see it, Brian!)
