Jacie Dunkle first came to Charlottesville to attend a nephew’s wedding. Fortunately for all of us, Jacie fell in love with our city and re-opened Fellini’s #9. After years of success serving hearty Italian food and sparkling cocktails, she opened a second restaurant: Tin Whistle Irish Pub on Market Street. Chef Brian Helleberg is the owner of two esteemed French restaurants on The Downtown Mall: Fleurie Restaurant and Petit Pois Restaurant. Mr. Helleberg features locally-sourced ingredients across both restaurants, including many from his personal garden. A few Saturdays ago, we watched Chef Helleberg pull a white cooler to The City Market. Then, he showed his support to many of the local produce vendors at The City Market through complimenting them on their fresh produce. Finally, Mr. Helleberg wheeled his cooler, which was crammed with fresh, Central Virginia produce, to Petit Pois Restaurant and Fleurie Restaurant for dinner that evening. How awesome is that?!?! Chef Helleberg, a Western Albemarle High School graduate, is also an accomplished skier, who swears he could “slam dunk a basketball with the best of ’em back in the day!”…(We’d like to see it, Brian!)

A University of Virginia graduate who bleeds Orange & Blue, Mr. Slosson is the president of Notus Sports & Events, Charlottesville’s premier events company. Mr. Slosson has managed events for Michie Tavern, the UVA Children’s Hospital and the City Of Charlottesville. Mr. Slosson’s outfit executes all the “away team hospitality tents/tailgates” during the UVa football season. Glen is also a mentor to many UVa students who intern at Notus Sports & Events. When Mr. Slosson is not managing his booming business, he is likely supporting the Charlottesville economy through local food, craft beer and athletic events.
