Julie Arbelaez, the founder and owner of Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters, joined me live on The I Love CVille Show! Here are some of the items we spotlighted:

1. How did the “travel bug” first bite Julie? Upon graduating from the University of Virginia, Julie took a 1-year excursion to Japan, New Zealand and Australia with only $5,000 in her pocket. During this trip, Julie fell in love with seeing the world and realized that traveling had to be a part of her life moving forward.
2. Julie’s travel business is 26 years young. We discussed the evolution of her company, including the trials and tribulations she experienced while launching a business in the early 1990’s while in her mid 20’s.
3. We analyzed how September 11, 2001 impacted her business and how she had to pivot her model to continue having success as a travel agent.
4. We also assessed how the internet influenced the travel industry. With topics No. 3 and No. 4, Julie offered very valuable perspective for any current or aspiring entrepreneur.
5. We heard her love story and how she met her husband at the Blue Moon Diner and later Starr Hill Brewery when it was located on West Main Street.
6. Julie relayed her perspective on August 11 and August 12, 2017 and how these two days will forever live in Charlottesville history. She said those events really hurt her soul. She said she felt inspired to write a message of hope following A12, which she then taped to her storefront window!
7. I asked Julie about balancing work with family. Julie is the proud mom of two boys who love to play baseball.
8. Julie offered insight into why she’s passionate about Charlottesville, including the many aspects she loves about our City.
