Live in Concert: Local Musicians, Carl Anderson & George Washburne

by

Local musicians Carl Anderson and George Washburne are teaming up to put on a great show in Louisa County, Virginia on August 17th at 8pm. This event is serving as a Release Party for Washburne’s new record, “Spaces Left to Fill,” and a listening party to preview Anderson’s upcoming record entitled “Risk of Loss.” This event will also feature Erin Lunsford and is a great way to wind down the summer.

“There will be a camping area, feel free to bring tents, teepees, etc. There will also be a small tent serving bottled beer (Samuel Adams, Stella Artois, Becks) for $3 and wine for $4.”

“Donations are strongly encouraged! Someone will be at the entrance to the farm directing traffic and collecting money for the musicians. We hope that you’ll bring some cash, even if it’s just a couple bucks, to help compensate the players.”

Carl Anderson is a Charlottesville-based artist who is currently working on a follow-up to his widely successful first album, Wolftown. He is looking to “build on what he has started and hopes that funding will be less suspenseful in the future.” Anderson claims that he is “influenced mostly by the natural world” and has been writing music all his life. Anderson has played with many other artists, including Cracker and Charlottesville favorite, Sons of Bill. For more information about Carl Anderson, visit his Website or Facebook.

George Washburne is also a Charlottesville native. Recently graduating from Western Albemarle High School, Washburne now attends the University of Richmond. Washburne is a very talented young musician, who is extremely excited for any opportunity to play. You might have seen him playing at The Whiskey Jar on a given Saturday night with the Blue Ridge Blues Band or just an individual showcase. Washburne claims he plays in a “blues/country technique that stems from influence by artists like John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brad Paisley, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Jimi Hendrix.” He recently released his first album, Spaces Left to Fill. For more information about George Washburne, visit his Facebook Page.

Erin Lundsford is “a singer/songwriter and an accomplished musician on guitar, piano, and voice. She is a recent graduate of the University of Virginia and just recorded her debut EP at White Star Sound in Louisa, Virginia. The EP should be coming out in late September and will feature 6 original songs.” This Fincastle, Va native says she is influenced by Norah Jones, Grace Potter, B.B. King, Eva Cassidy, among others. These three amazing artists are sure to put on a great show in just a few weeks. Washburne will be on 106.1 the Corner Wednesday night at 8 promoting their event or you can get more information now on their Facebook Event.
