New Culinary Class at PVCC Cooking Up Interest

A former White House chef is sharing his culinary secrets with anyone in Charlottesville who’s willing to throw on an apron. It’s part of a new series of cooking classes now offered by Piedmont Virginia Community College.

PVCC administrators said that the school hasn’t offered cooking classes since the ‘90s. Now with a new industrial cooking space at the Jefferson School City Center, there’s a whole new opportunity to offer classes for foodies.

Former White House chef Jack Hanny is teaching a class called “From the White House to Your House.” Apricot coconut balls (a favorite of President Nixon), beef bourguignon, paella, jambalaya, and pan fried pork chops are some of the dishes he’ll be teaching students to serve up.
