King Family Vineyards is a family owned and operated boutique winery started by David and Ellen King in 1998. Located in Crozet, Virginia, the winery is a short drive from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and the University of Virginia.

When the Kings moved to Crozet and started King Family Vineyards in 1998, the winery’s first vintage was only 500 cases. Today the winery produces approximately 6000 cases of wine per year. The winery specializes in small productions of ultra-premium wine that showcase the remarkable qualities of nearly 100% estate grown fruit.

The winery’s picturesque location and wonderful amenities makes it host to many weddings and other private events. Guests of private events will enjoy 360° mountain views and a rural setting with pastoral surroundings. Not only does King Family play host to many private events, but also public events as well, including Art in the North Gallery and “First Wednesday” each month.

The covered veranda, expansive lawn, and brick patio are perfect for outdoor picnics – while the Tasting Room and warm stone fireplace are inviting on cooler days. Bring your own picnic or select from their gourmet assortments of cheeses, salamis, spreads and hot French bread.

King Family’s tasting room is open daily during normal business hours, with the last tasting being served at 5 pm. The vineyard offers both classic tastings, at the bars of the Tasting Room, and private tastings, with a Certified Wine Specialist, as well as offering tours twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
If this wasn’t enough, King Family Vineyards also hosts the weekly Roseland Polo matches, played each Sunday from Memorial Day through September. These matches are free to the public and typically last about 1 1/2 hours.

King Family is known for many wines including their Crosé Rosé, a 100% Merlot dry rosé; Roseland 2012, a 60% Chardonnay, 40% Viognier; and the Petit Verdot, infusing Violet, blueberries, and a hint of cinnamon on the nose introduce a big mouth-feel with lots of tannin and spice.

King Family Vineyards has won many awards including: 2012 Governor’s Cup Gold Medal Case winner, 2011 Monticello Cup winner, 2010 Governor’s Cup Gold Medal and Monticello Cup winner, 2009 Governor’s Cup Gold Medal and Monticello Cup winner, 2008 Monticello Cup winner, February 2008 Top Ten hottest small brands in the nation Wine Business Monthly, April 2007 Best Viognier in America Saveur Magazine, 2004 Governor’s Cup winner.
