2. I asked William about the trials and tribulations of being a father to five children, who are each home-schooled and rising superstars.
3. We discussed William’s childhood in Pleasantville, New Jersey, which he characterized as, “growing up was not the greatest. Most of the homies sold drugs. Fortunately, I knew I could draw first, and then, when I grabbed the [hair] clippers, it kind of felt the same. I knew I could make something out of this.”
4. We analyzed his growth as an entrepreneur and leader within the Charlottesville and Central Virginia communities.
5. We discussed how Charlottesville has changed post August 12, 2017.
6. We analyzed what still needs to happen in Charlottesville to create an equitable, progressive and open-minded community.
7. We evaluated the negative impacts of gentrification and how they directly apply to Charlottesville and Central Virginia, specifically the African American neighborhoods around Charlottesville that are vulnerable to development and increased real estate taxes.
8. We considered our roles as leaders in the community and the expectations and pressures that are associated with that moniker.
